Correspondence with Kazakh government bodies runs electronically, in three languages

The international operator chose the system for one requirement — legally binding correspondence with Kazakhstan’s government bodies. Azure integration, single sign-on and a three-language interface followed, in a 15-day rollout.

About the client

Tengizchevroil develops the Tengiz and Korolev fields and operates within an international framework: corporate standards, English-language documentation.

The d8n deployment was completed in August 2021.

Challenges

  • Reduce paper use.
  • Automate internal approvals instead of manual routing.
  • Set up electronic exchange with government bodies — the requirement that narrowed the choice of supplier.
  • Integrate with internal systems rather than creating an isolated contour.
  • Work in three languages — English, Russian and Kazakh — including the mobile version.

How it works

The decisive reason for choosing d8n was legally binding electronic correspondence with Kazakhstan’s government bodies — the platform connects to the national exchange centre out of the box.

Start — July 2021, completion — August: 15 days to deploy. Standard configuration: out-of-the-box document types were not rewritten; routes were configured on top of them to match company regulations.

MS Azure handles authentication; SSO gives single sign-on to several applications with one set of credentials — for an international operator this is a security-team requirement.

In parallel, the mobile version was adapted and three-language localisation configured. One order exists in three language versions — the system knows it is one document.

Results

  • Deployment took 15 days; the project was completed in August 2021.
  • Integration with MS Azure (authentication) and SSO (single sign-on).
  • Correspondence with government bodies is electronic and legally binding.
  • Document storage consolidated into one system.

Who it is for

Relevant to international operators and joint ventures with a corporate IT landscape: when Azure and SSO are already in place but correspondence with Kazakh government bodies still goes on paper. Discuss authentication before the start — single sign-on here is a security requirement, not a convenience.

Questions and answers

Can a Kazakh document system integrate with Microsoft Azure and SSO?

Yes. MS Azure handles authentication; SSO gives single sign-on to several applications with one set of credentials.

How can an international company correspond electronically with Kazakh government bodies?

Through the national exchange centre: a letter is prepared, digitally signed and sent from d8n, and the exchange is legally binding.

How long does deploying a document system take?

At Tengizchevroil — 15 days: standard configuration, routes configured on top of out-of-the-box document types.

Security and legal validity

  • Certified under ST RK ISO/IEC 15408-3-2017, assurance level EAL 4 (No. KZ.7500186.05.01.69209, valid until 26 May 2029); a digital signature has the force of a handwritten one under the Law of Kazakhstan “On Electronic Documents and Digital Signatures”.
  • Rights in the system equal the employee’s rights; operations are recorded in the audit log. Legally binding correspondence with government bodies goes through the national e-document exchange, with no paper duplicates. Data is processed and stored in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Let’s test it on your landscape

On a demo we will show how the system sits alongside your corporate directory: sign-in via Azure and SSO, signing with a Kazakh digital signature and sending a letter to a government body from the same window.
